About this role
Northwood Space is a modern space infrastructure company focused on connecting space and Earth — operating a global ground network for missions spanning national security, global connectivity, and disaster response. They're looking for a Creative Director to define how Northwood shows up in the world, building and executing their visual presence from the ground up.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Define and evolve Northwood's visual identity to reflect the vision, ambition, and clarity of the systems they build
• Concept and art direct major external touchpoints — investor materials, announcements, customer-facing collateral, recruiting assets, and web presence
• Translate complex technical systems into clear, compelling visual narratives for diverse audiences including customers, partners, regulators, and talent
• Partner with the Head of Communications to align visual execution with narrative strategy
• Direct photo, video, and design production with external creatives — photographers, filmmakers, illustrators, and agencies
• Decide when to build in-house vs. through external partners, and lead external engagements as the creative authority
• Develop repeatable visual systems and frameworks to scale output without losing coherence or quality
• Act as a creative partner to leadership in high-stakes moments where clarity and credibility matter
WHO YOU ARE
• 10+ years in visual design, brand, or art direction with a portfolio demonstrating a high bar across different mediums
• Experience defining and evolving visual identity systems — not just executing within existing ones
• Strong conceptual thinking paired with the ability to carry ideas through to high-quality execution across formats (presentation, web, print, photo, video)
• Hands-on proficiency in design tools; comfortable making the work yourself
• Experience directing external partners and maintaining creative control through production
• Ability to translate complex or technical concepts into clear, credible visual narratives for sophisticated audiences
• Experience working closely with senior leadership or founders on company-level communication and perception
