Senior Product Designer, Payments

Upstart is an AI lending marketplace partnering with banks to expand access to affordable credit. This Senior Product Designer role is on the AI Experience Platform team, focused on creating intuitive payment experiences for borrowers across web and conversational AI surfaces. WHAT YOU'LL DO • Design end-to-end payment workflows that turn complex processes into user-friendly experiences • Define interaction patterns for conversational interfaces powered by LLMs • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to shape direction and influence the roadmap • Use data-driven experimentation to improve payment success metrics • Contribute to design systems patterns for web and AI-native surfaces WHO YOU ARE • 5+ years of product design experience with a strong portfolio of complex workflow design • Background designing conversational or AI-assisted interfaces • Proficiency in Figma and prototyping; experience with LLM-powered interfaces is a plus • Comfortable with error handling, edge cases, and high-stakes financial interactions • Fintech or payments domain experience preferred
